A significant amount of explosives was discovered in a residential neighborhood near CA Road in Nagpur, prompting serious security worries in a sensitive part of the city. The explosive materials were located in a bag in a small garden behind a house near Dosar Bhavan Chowk. The family residing at the house noticed cartridges sticking out of the bag and promptly informed the authorities early in the morning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madane confirmed that the family’s alertness led to the police being notified about the suspicious items, resulting in immediate action by security forces. Local police and the bomb disposal squad quickly responded to the scene, cordoning off the area as a precaution.
A thorough search operation was conducted to ensure no additional explosives were present nearby, with forensic experts examining the recovered items closely. The operation led to the recovery of 15 gelatin sticks (cartridges), around 50 to 58 detonators, and eight connectors. All materials were safely confiscated and moved to an undisclosed location for detailed analysis, as per the police.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the explosives might have been stored at the location for about one-and-a-half months, raising concerns about how they went unnoticed for so long,” Madane informed reporters. Investigations are ongoing, and further information is awaited.
