Dashing Pakistan cricketer Fakhar Zaman, currently serving a two-match ban in the Pakistan Super League, has refuted rumors suggesting his retirement from T20 internationals and plans to move to the United States. Reports circulating on social media claimed that the 36-year-old player had relocated his family to the USA and was considering stepping away from T20Is due to fitness issues, including hormone-related problems.
Sources close to Fakhar clarified that he has no intentions of retiring and has communicated this to the Pakistan Cricket Board and the selection committee. Despite facing fitness challenges, Fakhar showcased his prowess in the T20I World Cup by scoring 25 and 84 runs in two matches. However, he had to opt out of the ODI squad for the Bangladesh tour due to fitness concerns, sparking speculations about his future in T20 cricket.
While there were suggestions that Fakhar might focus on the 50-over format, sources revealed his determination to participate in the 2028 T20I World Cup. He is actively working on improving his fitness levels and aims to represent Pakistan in the Los Angeles Olympics, with hopes of securing a spot alongside India. Notably, Fakhar is currently serving a suspension for ball tampering during a recent Pakistan Super League match, a charge he denied before the match referee.
Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series is scheduled for October against Sri Lanka, while they are set to face Australia in an ODI series at home in May-June this year.
