The family of former Telangana Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), is facing a potential conflict over the name Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). KCR’s daughter, K. Kavitha, hinted at naming her proposed party TRS, while her brother, K.T. Rama Rao, of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), is considering reverting to TRS.
Kavitha, who left BRS last year, plans to launch a new political party and is eyeing the TRS name, stating it is available for use. The TRS was originally founded by KCR in 2001 to advocate for Telangana statehood.
Rama Rao acknowledged that the shift from TRS to BRS weakened the party’s connection with Telangana sentiment. He emphasized the emotional bond people had with TRS and the need to revive it for political rejuvenation. The final decision on the name change rests with KCR.
