The family of a senior army officer and his son in south Delhi’s Vasant Enclave claimed they received no immediate police assistance after being allegedly assaulted. The incident occurred when the officer objected to individuals drinking alcohol in a parked car in their residential area on April 11.
The Brigadier, currently stationed in Gujarat, and his son were attacked after confronting the men in the car. The officer’s wife stated that despite calling the police, they were assaulted by goons for 20 minutes while police allegedly did not intervene effectively.
A complaint was filed in the early hours of April 12, but the family sought help through defence channels for action to be initiated. The officer and his son, fortunately, did not sustain severe injuries despite the assault. The Indian Army has taken the matter seriously, with the Corps of Military Police (CMP) getting involved to ensure a thorough investigation.
