A video from an HDFC Bank branch in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, captured a female employee in a heated dispute with a customer. The employee, identified as Aastha Singh, is seen engaging in a confrontation that escalated when a bank staff member’s husband arrived and allegedly used abusive language, questioning her caste.
The incident, which occurred at the Panki branch, involved Singh rising from her seat, shouting, and pointing a laptop aggressively at the customer. Criticism arose over Singh’s alleged caste-related remark, “Thakur hoon main (I am a Thakur),” viewed by many as an attempt to intimidate based on caste identity.
Singh clarified that the dispute, which took place on January 6, stemmed from a disagreement with a female staff member over the relieving process. She emphasized the lengthy corporate formalities involved in such procedures, indicating that immediate relieving was not feasible under the standard protocol.
Singh recounted that the staff member’s husband entered the branch, exhibiting aggression and questioning her caste identity. She expressed concern over the disrespectful behavior towards women and highlighted the need to address such conduct.
