Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been released from Udaipur Central Jail after the Supreme Court of India granted him bail. Bhatt, who spent nearly two months and 11 days in judicial custody, visited a Shiva temple within the jail premises to offer prayers upon his release. Expressing faith in the judicial system, he emphasized the importance of truth prevailing.
Bhatt shared his experience, stating, “I spent two and a half months in Udaipur jail. I was confident in the law and truth prevailing.” He mentioned making a friend in jail who spoke about the soil of Mewar. Describing himself as a devotee of Lord Krishna, Bhatt likened his challenges to the resilience of Shri Krishna, expressing readiness to face new battles.
According to Bhatt’s lawyer, the Supreme Court has referred the matter to mediation, with both parties instructed to appear before the Supreme Court Mediation Centre on the 27th. The defence team aims for an amicable resolution and plans to present their proposal during the mediation process. The case originated from a complaint by Dr. Ajay Murdia, an IVF specialist in Udaipur, alleging financial discrepancies in film project investments.
The complaint accuses the misappropriation of around Rs 30 crore meant for film projects, citing non-compliance with agreed work. Allegations include the use of fake bills and fund transfers to personal accounts, with investments reportedly made for films that were never produced. The case, initially registered as a planned fraud in November 2025, led to the arrest of Bhatt, his wife, and others in December 2025 by the Rajasthan Police in Mumbai.
The defence asserts that the issue is a civil dispute and all transactions were consensual. The focus now shifts to the upcoming mediation proceedings and the subsequent court hearing in the case.
