The Chief Electoral Officer, Archana Patnaik, announced that the final electoral roll for Tamil Nadu will be released on February 17. The state is currently undergoing a Special Summary Revision of the electoral rolls as directed by the Election Commission of India. The draft electoral roll, listing voters who submitted enumeration forms, was published on December 19, 2025.
During the period from December 19, 2025, to January 30, 2026, citizens were allowed to file claims and objections regarding the draft roll. Eligible citizens who were not listed in the draft or had turned 18 during this time could apply for inclusion by submitting Form-6. Those wishing to object to an inclusion or request deletion had to submit Form-7.
A total of 34,75,717 applications, both online and offline, were received between December 19, 2025, and January 30, 2026, across Tamil Nadu. All applications will be reviewed and processed at the district level by Electoral Registration Officers following the Election Commission’s verification procedures.
The Electoral Registration Officers will scrutinize the applications for necessary inclusions, deletions, and corrections based on eligibility and validity. Once this process is completed, the final electoral roll will be published on February 17, 2026. This updated roll will be the official voter list for future electoral activities in Tamil Nadu. The Election Commission emphasized the importance of citizens verifying their details in the final list to prevent issues during elections.
