Finland’s Prime Minister, Petteri Orpo, expressed confidence in the collaboration between Finland, India, and global partners to lead in resilience, sustainability, and human-centric technological advancements. Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, he stressed the importance of providing academia and businesses with supercomputing capabilities to meet the rising demand for computing power. Orpo highlighted the necessity of understanding entire value chains and their societal impacts to build a sustainable and resilient technological future.
The Prime Minister noted the convergence of public and private sector investments in advancing AI research and applications in Finland. He underscored the significance of Finland’s innovative public-private partnership in accelerating sustainable development, fostering Circular Economy solutions, addressing climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, and enhancing overall well-being. The strategic partnership between Finland and India across advanced technology domains, including artificial intelligence, space, quantum computing, and digital networks, was also emphasized.
The discussion at the summit highlighted Finland’s expertise in research, engineering, and high-performance computing, complemented by India’s talent pool and application ecosystem, creating a robust foundation for co-innovation and global deployment of deep-tech solutions. The shared commitment between the two nations focused on building open, secure, and trusted technological ecosystems through international cooperation, translating research into tangible impacts, and reinforcing long-term resilience through sovereign and sustainable deep-tech capabilities.
Finnish MP Timo Harakka emphasized the importance of human-centric innovation, strong skills, and responsible governance in building resilient technology. He noted the shared vision of Finland and India for technology that is trusted, ethical, and beneficial for society. Harakka highlighted the significance of investing in open standards, secure infrastructures, and international collaboration across various technological domains. He emphasized that true technological sovereignty lies in trusted collaboration that prioritizes people, the planet, and progress in innovation.
