Former Travancore Devaswom Board member and senior CPI leader K.P. Sankaradas, arrested in connection with the Sabarimala gold heist case, was moved from a private hospital to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. This transfer occurred as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) intensified its investigation before a crucial deadline set by the Kerala High Court.
Sankaradas was taken into custody while receiving treatment at a private hospital, following criticism over delays in his arrest. The arrest was promptly reported to the Kollam Vigilance Court. Subsequently, a jail doctor assessed Sankaradas at the private hospital and decided that he required ongoing treatment at a government medical college hospital.
The investigation has picked up speed amidst increased judicial scrutiny. The SIT is slated to present a detailed status report to the Kerala High Court on Monday. The court had previously reprimanded the team for the delay in arresting Sankaradas, who was the final Travancore Devaswom Board member to be apprehended in the case.
