Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer has unveiled the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) strongest playing XI for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. CSK, a five-time IPL champion, had a disappointing 2025 season finishing at the bottom of the table, prompting significant changes in the squad. The team released players like Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, while acquiring Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals and investing in young talents such as Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma.
Jaffer’s lineup suggests opening with Samson and Ayush Mhatre for an aggressive start, with Ruturaj Gaikwad at number three for stability. Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube are placed in the middle order at four and five respectively, followed by veteran MS Dhoni at number six. Kartik Sharma or Prashant Veer will compete for the number seven spot in the team.
In the bowling department, Jaffer has chosen Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmad as the main spinners, with Matt Henry and Khaleel Ahmed leading the pace attack. Anshul Kamboj has been designated as the impact player for the team.
CSK is scheduled to kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 30 at Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati.
