Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has criticized the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led government for neglecting sports infrastructure in the state. Gehlot, in his digital series “Intezaar Shastra,” highlighted concerns about the poor condition of key facilities like the Rajasthan State Sports Institute (RSSI) and Jodhpur’s Amritlal Stadium.
Gehlot pointed out that despite being fully equipped with modern infrastructure, including a synthetic track and training facilities, the Rajasthan State Sports Institute in Jodhpur remains ineffective due to the lack of coach appointments. He emphasized that the government’s inaction has turned the project, built at a significant cost, into a “white elephant.”
Moreover, Gehlot raised alarm over the deteriorating state of Jodhpur’s historic Amritlal Stadium, attributing its decay to a lack of maintenance and administrative neglect. He criticized the government for what he termed a “short-sighted” approach, emphasizing the wastage of public funds through underutilization of major investments.
The former CM accused the current government of sidelining projects in Jodhpur, which he believes is unfair to the youth of the Marwar region. Through his “Intezaar Shastra” series, Gehlot aims to showcase initiatives from his tenure and portray the present administration as hindering progress rather than advancing it.
