Galgotias University is under fire on social media for its full-page ads in top Indian newspapers claiming global recognition. Netizens are criticizing the university’s promotional campaigns, questioning the validity of its claims and making fun of its branding. One user even sarcastically questioned if an event was organized by China or Galgotias University.
Criticism also came from an author and columnist who slammed the institution’s advertising tactics, especially after its involvement in the AI summit. Some users are advising potential students not to be swayed by such promotional content, calling it fake and unnecessary for their careers.
The backlash on social media includes a morphed image referring to Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Army Chief as “Mediator from Galgotias University,” adding to the online mockery. This uproar stems from a recent incident at the AI summit where Galgotias University faced allegations of misrepresentation regarding a robotic dog displayed as an in-house innovation, later identified as the Unitree Go2 by Unitree Robotics.
Observers at the summit noted that the robot, named “Orion” by the university, was claimed to be a product of their AI investments, capable of surveillance and monitoring tasks. Despite the controversy, Galgotias University has placed full-page ads in newspapers asserting its global ranking and commitment to India’s pride. The university has not responded officially to the social media criticism.
