Gas supply to Sibi district and surrounding areas in Balochistan, Pakistan, was disrupted when armed individuals detonated a pipeline, causing a fire. The Sui Southern Gas Company engineers halted gas flow through the affected pipeline as a safety measure. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the explosion, with the area secured for evidence collection.
This disruption follows a recent attack on the main gas pipeline in the Western Bypass area, affecting gas supply to Quetta and other Balochistan districts. The Sui Southern Gas Company reported that unknown perpetrators destroyed an 18-inch main gas pipeline in the Akhtarabad area. Subsequently, gas supply to various parts of Quetta and Balochistan was suspended due to the pipeline damage.
In response to the incidents, security measures have been heightened at gas facilities in Quetta. Additionally, in a separate event on April 9, a Baloch armed group ambushed Pakistani forces in Turbat, resulting in casualties and material losses. The group had initially blocked a road near Turbat, seized a police post, and engaged in a firefight with a military convoy, leading to significant clashes and reported casualties.
