Google has introduced Search Live worldwide, allowing interactive, real-time dialogues with Search in AI Mode in over 200 countries and territories through voice and camera interactions, as per a recent blog post. The expansion is made possible by Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, a new audio and voice model claimed to enhance conversations with Search, making them more natural, intuitive, and multilingual. Initially launched in India in English and Hindi, Search Live is now accessible in various Indian languages like Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
This feature serves as a convenient tool for instances where typing is cumbersome, accessible through the Google app on Android and iOS by selecting the Live icon beneath the Search bar. Users can verbally pose questions to receive audio responses and continue the conversation with follow-up queries or explore further with relevant web links, Google explained. Additionally, users can activate their camera to provide visual context, especially useful for tasks like assembling furniture, where the camera can offer suggestions and links for additional information based on what it sees.
Moreover, with Google Lens, users can engage in real-time conversations about real-world objects by selecting the ‘Live option’ at the bottom of the screen. In a related development, the government, in collaboration with Google and YouTube through the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), has launched a national AI Skilling Initiative. This initiative aims to train 15,000 individuals from the creative and media sectors, focusing on enhancing AI skills in areas such as animation, visual effects, gaming, comics (AVGC), and media technology.
