Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced plans to revive motorsports in India, targeting the return of Formula 1 before 2027. Mandaviya revealed ongoing preparations to resolve track issues and host an F1 race within the next six months.
Moreover, efforts are underway to introduce MotoGP events in India soon, with necessary enhancements currently in progress. The Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix, previously held from 2011 to 2013 at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, witnessed Sebastian Vettel’s dominance, driving for Red Bull Racing.
The Buddh International Circuit, designed by Hermann Tilke, played a pivotal role in bringing international motorsport to India. Despite initial success, the Grand Prix faced challenges leading to its suspension in 2014 and eventual removal from the calendar. Mandaviya emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting sports across all levels and nurturing future sporting talents.
