Governor-cum-Chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain recently met with Vice-Chancellors of Bihar’s universities at Patna Lok Bhawan to discuss enhancing higher education standards, administrative efficiency, and safeguarding student interests. Hasnain highlighted the pivotal role of Vice-Chancellors, urging them to be capable, empowered, and self-assured leaders. He stressed the importance of making independent decisions based on experience to effectively tackle institutional issues.
The Governor directed universities to ensure timely exams, prompt result announcements, and swift certificate distribution, cautioning that delays could harm students’ prospects. He also advocated for the establishment of Journalism and Mass Communication departments in universities to showcase Bihar’s progress nationally and globally. Hasnain underscored the significance of mutual trust in building successful institutions and encouraged Vice-Chancellors to cultivate a positive work environment through collaboration.
Education Minister Sunil Kumar, also present, updated on ongoing initiatives to strengthen the education sector and addressed administrative concerns raised by Vice-Chancellors. Highlighting Bihar’s high expenditure on higher education, Kumar reflected the government’s dedication to the field. The meeting also included a detailed presentation by the Secretary of the Higher Education Department on Bihar’s current higher education status, challenges, strategic priorities, and the importance of a trust-based institutional culture for future progress.
