The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Banaskantha collaborated to apprehend a wanted accused from Punjab, identified as Bikramjit Singh alias Vicky. He was captured at a dhaba in Deesa, where he was working as a casual laborer. The operation was based on intelligence provided by the Punjab Police regarding a suspect in a case registered by the Special State Operational Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar.
Officials revealed that Bikramjit Singh was allegedly associated with Pakistan-based gangster Shehzad Bhatti and Abid Jutt. He was reportedly involved in facilitating grenade supplies and recruiting locals in Punjab for the network. The accused, who played a significant role in coordinating recruitment and planning grenade attacks, was brought to Ahmedabad for further interrogation by the Gujarat ATS.
It was disclosed during initial questioning that Bikramjit Singh operated under the instructions of his handlers to carry out grenade attacks on security establishments. Shehzad Bhatti, believed to be associated with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, has been linked to terror activities in Punjab. The SSOC Amritsar had filed a case under various sections, including the Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act, and has made multiple arrests in connection with the case.
The Gujarat ATS informed the Punjab Police about the detention of the accused, and legal procedures are in progress for his transfer for further investigation.
