The Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a press conference in Gandhinagar as part of the ‘Mission Gramin’ initiative, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in attendance. Gujarat BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma led the briefing, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to rural development in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision. Vishwakarma highlighted the positive impact of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which has provided permanent housing to numerous economically weaker families.
The focus of the press conference was the Viksit Bharat–Gramin Rozgar Abhiyan (VB-G RAM G), aimed at enhancing rural employment opportunities. Under this initiative, employment days have been extended to 125 days from the previous 100 days provided by schemes like MGNREGA. Special provisions have been made to ensure job availability during the agricultural season, with efforts to prevent misuse of welfare schemes through fake job cards.
Vishwakarma criticized the Congress, accusing them of renaming schemes and misleading the public. He highlighted the direct transfer of benefits to bank accounts under Prime Minister Modi’s administration, contrasting it with the alleged leakages in previous governments. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reiterated the government’s commitment to public welfare through various schemes, mentioning the upliftment of marginalized sections and poverty reduction efforts benefiting around 25 crore people in the country.
