The Gujarat government has sanctioned Rs 28.68 crore for development projects at various tourism and pilgrimage sites in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s guidance, approved these projects to enhance infrastructure and public amenities. At the historic Uparkot Fort in Junagadh, Rs 1.07 crore has been allocated for initial improvements, including a compound wall, parking facilities, and a tourist center.
The Harshad Mata Temple will undergo comprehensive development with the largest allocation of Rs 20.09 crore. Other religious sites like the Shree Bahuchar Mataji Temple and Shree Khodiyar Temple will also receive funds for enhancements. The Ghatkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Valsad district will see developments such as a riverfront ghat, landscaping, and a children’s play area to boost tourism. Moreover, Rs 3.36 crore has been allocated for the renovation of the historic Gandhi Ashram in Panchmahal district.
To promote cultural events, Rs 1.25 crore has been set aside for organizing ‘Dang Darbar-2026’ in Dang district. These initiatives aim to strengthen tourism infrastructure and provide better facilities for visitors and devotees statewide.
