The Gujarat government has addressed over 10,000 complaints concerning domestic LPG connections and has bolstered arrangements to ensure the continuous supply of essential goods like petrol, diesel, gas, fertilisers, and other daily necessities. This decision came after a significant meeting led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. The meeting, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Energy and Petrochemicals Minister Rushikesh Patel, Civil Supplies Minister Raman Solanki, and senior state officials, focused on reviewing stock levels and distribution arrangements of essential items across the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi highlighted that measures have been taken to guarantee timely gas delivery to 1.28 crore domestic LPG customers. A toll-free number and a war room have been set up to promptly address any complaints. The assurance was given that there is no need for citizens to worry about the availability of fertilisers, gas, petrol, diesel, or other essentials. The meeting was a response to directives from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent video conference with Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors, emphasizing the importance of supply chain management for essential commodities in the current global context.
Officials confirmed the availability of sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, PNG, LPG, and fertilisers in Gujarat. The state government has implemented measures to ensure the uninterrupted supply of these commodities. Special attention was given to PNG connections, with households, hospitals, and educational institutions being prioritized. Gujarat currently holds 23% of the country’s PNG connections and 12% of CNG filling stations. Sanghavi announced a target to provide 50,000 new PNG connections in the next 15 days, with over 12,000 domestic PNG connections and 300 commercial connections already facilitated in the past 10 days.
The meeting also addressed concerns related to hoarding, black marketing, and misinformation. Sanghavi emphasized the immediate handling of any rumors about shortages and urged citizens to report misinformation spread via WhatsApp to the police. Strict actions will be taken against those responsible for spreading false information. District collectors and police chiefs have been directed to enforce these measures. Coordination committees will be established at the district level under the chairmanship of district collectors to address industrial issues, with all committees reporting to a state-level industries committee.
Additionally, the meeting stressed the need for close monitoring of cargo at ports to prevent congestion and disruptions in the supply chain. Farmers were assured of an adequate supply of fertilisers for the upcoming Kharif season, and timely payment of wages to workers was emphasized in light of global economic challenges. The state government reiterated its commitment to ensuring the supply of essential goods, preventing hoarding and black marketing, and maintaining seamless coordination with the central government to efficiently address public needs.
