Gujarat State Election Commission Announces Local Body Election Schedule

The Gujarat State Election Commission has set the schedule for local body elections in the state. Polling is scheduled for April 26, with vote counting on April 28. Nomination filing will start on April 6 and end on April 11. Scrutiny of nominations will be on April 13, and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature is April 15.
The Model Code of Conduct is in effect from April 1 until the election process is completed, restricting new policy announcements and government programs. The electoral process, covering municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats, and taluka panchayats, will conclude by April 30.
A total of 9,011 seats will be contested, including by-election seats, totaling 9,992 seats. Elections will be held in 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats. The electorate is estimated at around 4.19 crore voters, with polling using Electronic Voting Machines.
