The Gujarat State-Level Census Coordination Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das, convened in Gandhinagar to assess preparations for the upcoming Census 2027. Chief Secretary Das oversaw a detailed review of the planning process and groundwork necessary for the successful conduct of the population census. State Census Coordinator Rajesh Manju and other committee members were present at this high-level meeting.
Director of Census Operations, Gujarat, Sujal Mayatra, presented a comprehensive strategy for completing Census 2027 within the set timelines. The strategy included aspects like finalizing administrative boundaries, insights from the pre-test exercise, and plans for enumerator training. Discussions within the committee covered officer deployment, manpower requirements, house-listing operation schedules, and coordination with various government departments.
Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das commended the progress made in preparatory work and provided guidance to ensure accurate, transparent, and efficient census operations in Gujarat. Census 2027 is significant as it offers a precise overview of India’s population and requirements, aiding in fund allocation, infrastructure planning, healthcare and education expansion, and welfare scheme design. The data influences decisions on schools, hospitals, roads, housing, and employment needs in each region, shaping policies on migration, urbanization, aging populations, and socio-economic disparities.
