Gujarat Titans’ stand-in captain Rashid Khan acknowledged the loss of momentum during the middle overs of the chase, resulting in a six-run defeat to Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Despite a strong start by opener Sai Sudharsan, a flurry of wickets in the middle overs hindered Gujarat’s progress, leading to a final score of 204/8.
Rashid Khan, filling in for regular skipper Shubman Gill, praised Gujarat’s bowlers for containing Rajasthan after a solid start by the visitors. He highlighted the importance of the openers’ performance but noted that consecutive wickets in the 12th and 13th overs disrupted their momentum, making the chase challenging.
The Afghan all-rounder emphasized the favorable batting conditions at the venue and believed that the required run rate was manageable until the momentum shift. Rashid expressed disappointment over the early wickets that prevented Gujarat from sustaining the momentum and capitalizing on the easy flow of boundaries on the pitch.
Despite the close defeat, Rashid Khan remained optimistic about the team’s ability to bounce back in the tournament. He emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes, adapting to game situations, and improving as the competition progresses. Rashid also provided an update on Shubman Gill’s absence due to a muscle spasm, expressing hope for his quick recovery and return for the upcoming matches.
