Gujarat Titans’ batting coach, Matthew Hayden, expressed disappointment as a sudden collapse of wickets led to their defeat against the Rajasthan Royals. Initially positioned well in the chase of 211 runs, GT faltered after the 10th over, losing crucial wickets and ending at 161/7 by the 15th over.
In a valiant effort towards the end, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada almost salvaged the game with their brief contributions, but GT fell short by just six runs. Hayden highlighted the importance of making better decisions during run chases to ensure cohesion and success, especially in crucial moments like the one faced against Rajasthan.
Reflecting on the bowling performance, Hayden noted that key bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Rabada, and Rashid seemed slightly off their usual form. Despite their efforts, Hayden pointed out areas where improvements could have made a significant difference in the outcome of the match, emphasizing the fine margins in T20 cricket that can sway results.
The defeat marked GT’s second consecutive loss this season, aligning them with Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in this regard.
