After a tough loss at the Wankhede Stadium, Hardik Pandya opted for reflection over reaction. He shared a composed yet purposeful message with his Mumbai Indians team in the dressing room following their 18-run loss to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Drawing inspiration from head coach Mahela Jayawardene’s philosophy, Pandya encouraged his teammates to face the setback collectively instead of withdrawing into isolation. He emphasized the importance of learning from defeats and staying united as a team.
Addressing the squad after Mumbai’s third consecutive defeat, Pandya highlighted the need to stay together and work through challenges. Despite a late fightback, Mumbai fell short in the match, with RCB’s strong batting performance setting a challenging target.
RCB posted a formidable 240/4 total, led by explosive innings from Phil Salt (78 off 36) and Rajat Patidar (53 off 20), supported by Virat Kohli’s steady 50. Although MI showed resilience with contributions from players like Hardik Pandya, Ryan Rickelton, and Sherfane Rutherford, they finished at 222/5, unable to secure a win.
MI’s next match is against the Punjab Kings at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium, on Thursday.
