Himachal Pradesh BJP President Rajeev Bindal criticized the state government, alleging a planned attempt to manipulate Panchayati Raj and municipal corporation elections. He claimed that despite a Supreme Court order to hold elections by May 31, the government is now attempting to manipulate the process. Bindal expressed concern over the unprecedented changing of reservation rosters, calling it a departure from transparent electoral practices.
The former State Minister emphasized that the current actions contradict the principles of the Panchayati Raj Act and Article 243D of the Constitution. He accused government officials of succumbing to pressure from Congress leaders, causing confusion and unrest in communities. Bindal highlighted the disillusionment among aspiring candidates due to the erratic changes in election procedures.
Warning against what he termed an “anti-democratic conspiracy,” Bindal vowed to resist any attempts to subvert the election process. He pledged to challenge the state government’s actions through legal and public means to uphold democratic principles.
