As violence against civilians rises in Balochistan, a human rights organization exposed the extrajudicial killing of one civilian and the enforced disappearance of two others by Pakistani forces. The body of Yawar Habib, found in the Turbat region after nine months, showed signs of unlawful custody before being executed. Yawar was taken by security forces from outside the High Court in Turbat on June 16, 2025.
The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department strongly condemned Yawar’s killing, emphasizing the ongoing issue of enforced disappearances in the region. These disappearances followed by ‘kill and dump’ operations are causing fear and insecurity among Baloch youth. The organization highlighted the violations of fundamental human rights, including the right to life and protection from arbitrary detention.
Paank also disclosed the case of Abid Baloch, a student with a kidney illness, who was summoned by military intelligence and then disappeared upon arrival. This is not the first time Abid has faced such violations, as he was previously disappeared while seeking medical treatment. The organization pointed out a pattern of harassment against vulnerable individuals in need of medical care.
Another case mentioned by Paank is that of Ismail Rachar, who was disappeared along with a family member by Pakistani forces. While one family member was released, Ismail’s whereabouts remain unknown, raising concerns for his safety. The organization called for justice, accountability, and an end to enforced disappearances in solidarity with Ismail’s family.
