Dr. Divya Sistla Recognized for Excellence in Endocrinology and Medical Innovation
Pittsburgh, PA, April 16, 2025 – Dr. Divya Sistla, a distinguished endocrinologist originally from Hyderabad, India, has been awarded the esteemed title of Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). This accolade is among the highest honors in internal medicine, acknowledging her significant contributions to endocrinology, medical research, and education.

A Journey from Hyderabad to U.S. Medical Leadership

Dr. Sistla’s medical journey commenced at the Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana. After relocating to the United States, she established herself as a leading figure in endocrinology. Currently, she serves as an Endocrinologist and Obesity Medicine Specialist at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Her clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of hormonal disorders, including diabetes, thyroid conditions, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), osteoporosis, and Cushing’s syndrome. Board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, and obesity medicine, Dr. Sistla is renowned for her comprehensive approach to patient care.

Commitment to Medical Education and Research

Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Sistla is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, she mentors medical trainees and actively participates in committees focused on patient safety and physician wellness.

Her research interests are diverse, with significant work in adrenal and pituitary disorders, as well as obesity. Notably, her study on telemedicine demonstrated the effectiveness of video consultations in improving diabetes care outcomes, particularly relevant in the post-pandemic era. Additionally, her research on non-functioning pituitary adenomas, published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society, provided valuable insights into the long-term stability of these tumors, influencing clinical management strategies.

Bridging Global Medical Practices

Upon receiving the FACP honor, Dr. Sistla remarked, “Receiving the FACP is a deeply meaningful milestone. As an Indian-origin physician practicing in the U.S., I’m proud to bring global best practices to my patients and continue building bridges in medical knowledge between countries.”

Dr. Sistla’s achievements exemplify the impact of cross-cultural expertise in advancing global healthcare standards.
