Amid the LPG shortage due to the Gulf war, Hyderabad Police apprehended 10 individuals and confiscated 414 hidden LPG cylinders in a graveyard. The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, in collaboration with Banjara Hills Police, exposed the illicit operation. Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar revealed that the accused were stockpiling the cylinders to sell them at inflated prices for personal profit.
Total assets valued at Rs 21.88 lakh, including 11 transport vehicles, were seized from the offenders. Deputy Commissioner of Police Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath announced the crackdown on the racket during a press conference. The culprits had stashed HP cylinders at a graveyard in Banjara Hills and were selling them at exorbitant rates to desperate buyers.
The arrested individuals comprised a gas supplier, three gas delivery personnel, two drivers, and laborers. The seized cylinders included various sizes such as 47 kgs, 19 kgs, and five kgs. Additionally, several vehicles were impounded in connection with the illegal operation. The accused, led by Mohd. Aamir of “Metro Gas Agency,” were found violating regulations by dumping gas cylinders at the graveyard and exploiting customers by selling them at inflated prices.
The arrested persons, including Mohd. Yousuf, Mohd. Ismail, A. Rama Rao, Lok Kumar, and others, were involved in the illicit scheme.
