ICC Chairman Jay Shah recently met with the members of the Jammu & Kashmir team following their remarkable victory in the Ranji Trophy. The team secured their maiden title by defeating the eight-time champions Karnataka at the Hubli Cricket Ground on February 28.
After their historic win, the players expressed their desire to meet Shah and express their gratitude for his contributions to strengthening cricket in the region during his tenure as BCCI Secretary. Shah, in turn, offered words of encouragement to the players during the celebratory meeting.
The BCCI, in recognition of the significant achievement, shared that the triumph of Jammu & Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy marks a proud milestone for cricket in the region. The board also extended congratulations to the entire Jammu and Kashmir squad and the cricket community for scripting a memorable chapter in Indian domestic cricket.
Jammu & Kashmir’s victory at the Hubli Cricket Ground was highlighted by their clinching of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 title through a commanding first-innings lead over Karnataka. The team’s dominant performance included a formidable first-innings score of 584 and a subsequent declaration at 342/4 in the second innings, with opener Qamran Iqbal’s unbeaten 160 playing a pivotal role.
