The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the upcoming days. There may be isolated heavy showers in hilly regions like Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, and Theni districts. A low-pressure system from Marathwada through interior Karnataka to southern Tamil Nadu is influencing this weather pattern.
Several districts in Tamil Nadu experienced sudden rain showers on Saturday, offering relief from the summer heat. Kodaikanal saw moderate rainfall in areas like Observatory, Eerichalai, Anna Salai, and Moonjikkal, although a fallen tree in Pulicholai briefly disrupted traffic. Ooty also had widespread rain in tourist areas, bringing joy to visitors amidst warm weather.
Interior regions, including Dindigul and Vellore, received significant rainfall, easing high temperatures. Yercaud tourists were surprised by sudden rain during activities, while Salem and Kovilpatti also saw showers. Despite the rainfall, temperatures remained high, with Madurai at 38 degrees Celsius and Chennai expecting partly cloudy skies.
