The Meteorological Centre in Bhopal has issued a warning for thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and hail affecting large parts of Madhya Pradesh until April 5. Residents, especially in rural and outdoor areas, are advised to stay alert. The weather conditions are a result of an active “Western Disturbance” over East Iran and adjoining Afghanistan, along with other atmospheric factors.
Rainfall has been recorded in various places, with heavy spells reported in several areas. Notable rainfall figures include Pandhurna at 80 mm, Sausar at 42 mm, and Chand at 29.2 mm. Gusty winds have also been observed in different districts, with speeds ranging from 37 kmph to 56 kmph. The weather center has issued warnings of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in specific divisions and districts till Friday.
The IMD’s weather maps predict widespread thunderstorm activity with moderate to heavy rainfall in eastern, central, and parts of western Madhya Pradesh until April 6. Gusty winds of 30-60 kmph and hail are expected in various locations. While a fresh Western Disturbance is anticipated to impact northwest India from April 7, the current weather system will continue to influence Madhya Pradesh until at least April 5. Precautionary measures advised include avoiding outdoor activities during thunderstorms and securing loose objects.
