Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers, staged a sit-in at Factory Naka in Rawalpindi after being prevented from visiting the incarcerated former Prime Minister at Adiala Jail. Imran Khan’s family, PTI members, and lawyers have faced restrictions on meeting him in prison, leading to regular sit-ins outside the jail as permitted by the court.
A PTI livestream captured supporters marching towards Adiala Road prison before being stopped by a riot fence. Aleema Khan expressed concerns about Imran Khan’s alleged solitary confinement, criticizing the government for what she described as a fear-driven response to his influence. PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja emphasized the party’s commitment to democracy and judicial independence, denouncing the charges against Imran Khan as baseless and the punishments as unjust.
Aleema Khan, in a video shared by PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, defiantly stated their resolve in the face of adversity, asserting that they will not accept Imran Khan’s imprisonment and isolation. Imran Khan, serving a 14-year sentence in a corruption case, is also facing additional trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act related to past protests. His recent call for nationwide protests followed a court decision sentencing him and his wife to 17 years in prison in connection with a corruption case involving the receipt of expensive jewelry.
