Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s emergence as a key player in Artificial Intelligence (AI) during the India AI Impact Summit. He emphasized the country’s robust digital infrastructure, secure data centers, and a thriving startup ecosystem, making it a natural hub for affordable and secure AI solutions. Modi stressed the importance of developing AI systems that are sensitive, accountable, and aligned with human values, shifting the focus from machines to people.
India’s unique strengths, including its diversity and democratic structure, position it strongly in the global AI landscape, according to PM Modi. He urged for the democratization of AI, emphasizing that technology should empower rather than marginalize individuals. Modi also noted contrasting global perceptions about AI, stating that India sees opportunity and fortune in AI rather than fear, backed by talent, energy, capacity, and policy clarity.
At the summit, three Indian companies launched their AI models and apps, showcasing India’s youth talent and innovative solutions to the world. The event also featured practical applications of AI technology, including an AI-enabled sign language interpretation. PM Modi’s vision for AI, encapsulated in the theme of ‘Welfare for All, Happiness for All,’ underscores India’s commitment to inclusive and empowering AI development.
