India concluded their participation in the 2026 Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with a total of 17 medals, including two gold, two silver, and a bronze. The Indian freestyle wrestlers clinched two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, while the women’s team earned one silver and four bronze medals.
During the final day of the competition, Indian wrestlers competed for gold medals but were unable to secure victories. Aman, a Paris Olympics bronze medalist, lost to Kwang Myong Kim of North Korea in the 61kg freestyle final. Mukul Dahiya also settled for silver after being defeated by Iran’s Kamran G Ghasempour in the men’s 86kg freestyle final. Dinesh closed India’s campaign with a bronze medal by defeating Arslanbek Turdubekov of Kyrgyzstan in the men’s 125kg freestyle bout.
India finished second in the overall standings with a medal tally of two gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals, trailing behind Iran. The Team Rankings saw Iran in the lead with 178 points, followed by India with 162 points and Japan in third place with 127 points.
