India clinched three medals at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 with Nikhat Zareen, Priya, and Preeti Pawar advancing to the semifinals. Nikhat dominated the women’s 51kg quarterfinal, setting up a challenging semifinal against China’s Wu Yu, the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist. Priya triumphed in the women’s 60kg category, securing a spot in the next round against Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor.
Preeti Pawar, the gold medalist at the World Boxing Cup Finals, displayed a clinical performance in the women’s 54kg category, defeating Munguntsetseng with a unanimous decision victory. She is now geared up to face Korea’s Im Aeji in the semifinals. Meanwhile, in the men’s 70kg category, Deepak bowed out after a defeat to Jordan’s Zeyad Eashash in the quarterfinals.
India’s campaign at the championships is gaining momentum with three medals assured and the prospect of more in the finals. Aditya, the reigning national champion, secured a victory in the men’s 65kg category against Saudi Arabia’s Mousa Alhawsaw. Aditya, who recently won gold at the 9th Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship, will face Uzbekistan’s Abdulloh Madaminov in the upcoming bout.
