Prime Minister Narendra Modi and prominent figures from India’s sports community congratulated the India U19 team for securing their sixth title by defeating England by 100 runs in Harare. Modi commended the team’s exceptional performance throughout the tournament, expressing pride in their victory and highlighting the inspiration it provides to young athletes. India’s strong batting display, led by Sooryavanshi’s remarkable 175 runs off 80 balls, propelled them to a total of 411/9 after opting to bat first.
In response to India’s imposing total, England showcased resilience in their chase, with notable contributions from Dawkins, Mayes, and Falconer. Despite Falconer’s impressive century, India’s bowlers, particularly RS Ambrish and Deepesh Devendran, secured a decisive win for the Indian team. Vice-president C.P Radhakrishnan hailed the historic achievement of India’s U19 team, emphasizing the record-breaking performance of Sooryavanshi and extending best wishes to the entire squad.
Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar lauded the young champions for their fearless cricket and highlighted the standout performance of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 14-year-old opener.
