The India U23 men’s national team showcased a remarkable performance by scoring five goals against Bhutan in the U23 Tri-Nation Championship 2026 held at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh. Suhail Ahmad Bhat scored twice (51’, 81’), with Ricky Meetei Haobam (44’), Tomba Singh Haobam (79’), and Muhammed Ajsal (85’) each adding a goal.
This victory propelled India to the top of the U23 Tri-Nation Championship table, tied on points (three) with Tajikistan, who had previously defeated Bhutan 1-0. The India U23s, under coach Naushad Moosa, displayed dominance from the start, creating numerous scoring opportunities.
India’s relentless attacking paid off just before halftime when Ricky found the net from outside the box. The team continued their offensive prowess in the second half, extending their lead through well-executed plays. The match concluded with India securing a spot at the top of the table, setting up a crucial match against Tajikistan for the championship title.
The Blue Colts will face Tajikistan in the championship decider on March 31 at the Golden Jubilee Stadium, with India needing a draw to clinch the tournament victory, while Tajikistan aims for a win.
