The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) praised the India Under-19 Men’s team for winning the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 in Harare, Zimbabwe, securing a record sixth title. This victory reaffirms India’s status as the most successful nation in the tournament’s history. India now holds both the ICC Under-19 Men’s and Women’s World Cup titles, showcasing the BCCI’s commitment to player development.
BCCI acknowledged Head Coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar and his support staff for their guidance and leadership. VVS Laxman, Head of Cricket at BCCI Centre of Excellence, was also commended for his vision in India’s age-group cricket system, ensuring a seamless pathway from junior to elite levels.
In the final match, India, opting to bat first, saw Sooryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre’s partnership scoring 142 runs. Sooryavanshi’s exceptional 175 runs off 80 balls, including a century in 55 balls, propelled India to a total of 411/9. Despite England’s efforts, India’s bowlers, led by RS Ambrish and Deepesh Devendran, secured a comfortable victory.
BCCI officials, including president Mithun Manhas and secretary Devajit Saikia, lauded the team’s achievement and emphasized the strength of India’s age-group cricket structure. Vice-president Rajeev Shukla highlighted India’s sustained success in nurturing young talent, while joint-secretary Prabhtej Bhatia credited the collective effort of players, coaches, selectors, and support staff for the team’s success.
