Highlighting the challenges of cross-border terrorism, India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, urged Poland to show zero tolerance towards terrorism in India’s neighborhood. During a meeting with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in New Delhi, Jaishankar emphasized the need for constant attention to the growing ties between the two countries.
Jaishankar expressed concerns about the Ukraine conflict and criticized the unfair targeting of India. He highlighted the importance of exchanging views and perspectives, given the distinct challenges and opportunities faced by India and Poland as nations in different regions.
Acknowledging the warm bilateral relations, Jaishankar mentioned the steady progress in ties between India and Poland, which were elevated to a strategic partnership status during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in August 2024. He noted that Poland is a significant trading partner for India in Central Europe, with bilateral trade amounting to around $7 billion and Indian investments exceeding $3 billion, leading to job creation for the Polish population.
Discussing the action plan for 2024-2028, Jaishankar outlined the focus on enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries. The agenda includes strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, defense, security technologies, and digital innovation.
