Hailing India’s historic victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia praised the team’s dominance in world cricket. India secured a back-to-back triumph by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This victory marked India as the first team to clinch three Men’s T20 World Cup titles while successfully defending the crown.
Reacting to this landmark achievement, Saikia described the win as a moment of national celebration. He commended the team for their fearless approach throughout the tournament, emphasizing the significance of this historic triumph for Team India. Saikia specifically congratulated Skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Head Coach Gautam Gambhir, and every member of Team India for their remarkable performance and never-say-die attitude.
India’s triumph in the final was built on a dominant performance. The hosts set a massive total of 255/5 in their 20 overs, the highest ever recorded in a T20 World Cup final. Sanju Samson’s explosive 89 off 46 balls, Abhishek Sharma’s quick 52, and Ishan Kishan’s 54 created immense pressure on New Zealand. The bowlers then sealed the victory with a clinical display, restricting New Zealand to 159 all out in 19 overs. Jasprit Bumrah’s 4/15 spell and Axar Patel’s three wickets were instrumental in dismantling New Zealand’s chase.
Saikia highlighted the strength and consistency of Indian cricket on the global stage through these back-to-back titles. He described India’s consecutive ICC T20 World Cup Trophies as a phenomenal and unprecedented achievement, showcasing India’s sheer dominance in world cricket.
