Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s impressive 68 off 43 balls guided India to a comprehensive 5–0 victory over Sri Lanka in the T20I series. This win marked India Women’s third 5–0 triumph in bilateral T20I series, following successes against West Indies in 2019 and Bangladesh in 2024. Star player Smriti Mandhana was rested for the match, with G Kamalini making her T20I debut as a replacement.
Kamalini’s 12 runs and Harmanpreet’s crucial innings helped India reach a total of 175/7. Sri Lanka’s bowlers, including Kavisha Dilhari, Chamari Athapaththu, and Rashmika Sewwandi, took 2 wickets each. In response, Arundhati Reddy’s early dismissal of Athapaththu set Sri Lanka back, but Hasini Perera and Imesha Dulani’s partnership added 79 runs.
Dulani scored her maiden T20I fifty before being stumped out by Amanjot Kaur. Perera also notched her first T20I fifty in eight matches, scoring 81 runs off 42 balls. However, she fell to Shree Charani’s bowling. Sri Lanka’s lower order struggled, with only Rashmika Sewwandi reaching double figures with an unbeaten 14 runs.
India’s bowlers shone, with six players taking at least one wicket. Deepti Sharma became the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20I after dismissing Nilakshi de Silva. Sneh Rana and Shree Charani both ended with figures of 1/31. Sri Lanka’s woes continued with this defeat, leaving them winless in the series against India and West Indies.
