Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Mauritius and met with President Dharambeer Gokhool, conveying greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu. Jaishankar highlighted the strong friendship between the two nations and their commitment to enhancing ties.
During his visit, Jaishankar also met with former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, praising his dedication to the bilateral partnership. The minister described the India-Mauritius relationship as broad and significant, noting substantial progress in various areas over the past year.
Jaishankar’s official visit to Mauritius included discussions on development cooperation, health, education, capacity building, mobility, technology, maritime security, and people-to-people connections. He emphasized the enduring friendship between India and Mauritius, appreciating Prime Minister Ramgoolam’s strong support for the relationship.
In the next phase of his trip, Jaishankar will travel to the UAE for an official visit starting on April 11. The agenda includes meetings with UAE leaders to enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
