Indian MMA athlete Sangram Singh achieved a historic milestone in Buenos Aires by becoming the first Indian to win an MMA fight in Argentina. He secured a decisive victory over French fighter Florian Coudier in just one minute and 45 seconds at the Tiger Sports Club stadium. This win marked Sangram’s third consecutive triumph in MMA, showcasing his exceptional wrestling skills that led to a quick submission.
Sangram Singh expressed his elation after the victory, stating, “I either win or I learn. Passion has no age. This victory fulfills my dream of becoming the first Indian to win an MMA fight in Argentina.” He credited his long-time coach Bhupesh and the unwavering support from fans in India and worldwide for his success. Despite facing challenges, including exceeding the weight limit just days before the fight, Sangram’s dedication and preparation enabled him to compete in the 83 kg category.
The intense fight witnessed both competitors launching early attacks, but Sangram’s wrestling expertise allowed him to dominate the match. Capitalizing on an opportunity, he swiftly brought the fight to the ground and executed a submission hold that led to the referee stopping the contest. Aneesh Gautam, Co-Founder and Director of Talent at LegaXy, highlighted the significance of Sangram’s victory, emphasizing the increasing competitiveness of Indian combat sports athletes on the global stage.
Sangram attributed his success to mental discipline and a consistent regimen that includes yoga and pranayama. He encouraged aspiring athletes to remain committed and persistent in their pursuit of excellence. Additionally, he recognized the contributions of the organizers at Samurai Fight House, along with a supportive team including Ritu Chhabria, Jitendra Singh, Devbrat Sarkar, Nitin Agarwal, Manoj Atri, and Sanjeev Gupta, for their crucial role in his achievement.
