Indian Overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda emphasized the necessity of national-level political determination to enhance education and healthcare access for all citizens. Pitroda criticized AAP national Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s free education initiative, labeling it as “bogus” and stressed the need for a comprehensive national approach. He highlighted the exorbitant fees imposed by private schools in India, advocating against excessive privatization in the education and health sectors.
Pitroda underscored the importance of the government’s role in ensuring affordable education and healthcare for every child, expressing concerns over the current trend of shifting responsibilities away from the state. Additionally, he supported the idea of extending reservation benefits, including for Muslims under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, while emphasizing the broader need for assistance at the grassroots level.
Pitroda, reflecting on his own background as the son of an OBC, emphasized the significance of making education and health services nearly free for marginalized communities. He called for a more inclusive approach towards providing benefits to OBCs, Muslims, and other disadvantaged groups, highlighting the pivotal role of accessible education and healthcare in societal progress.
