Indian shooters fell short of making it to the final of the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Granada, Spain. Mukesh Nelavalli, who clinched gold in the 10m mixed team event earlier, secured the highest position among Indians, finishing 14th.
In a field of 86 competitors, Mukesh scored 579-21x, just two points below the final qualification mark held by Anton Aristarkhov at 581-20x. China’s Xie Yu led the qualification round with an impressive 588-18x score.
Aakash Bharadwaj showcased the best performance among Indians, finishing 10th with a score of 580-26x, albeit in a non-final capacity. Ujjawal Malik secured 22nd place with 577-17x, while Parmod Kumar ended up in 39th place with 574-16x. Varun Tomar finished 63rd with a score of 569-13x, also competing for ranking points.
Rhythm Sangwan and Divya TS made a strong start in the precision stage of the 25m Pistol Women event, both currently within the top eight positions. Rhythm scored 292-9x, shooting 99, 96, 97, while Divya achieved 291-8x with scores of 96, 98, 97. Simranpreet Kaur Brar, the third shooter, had a tough day, scoring 282-5x (93, 94, 95), as per the NRAI release.
Abhidnya Ashok Patel and Chinki Yadav, participating for ranking points, concluded the precision stage with scores of 286-8x and 277-7x, respectively.
The rapid stage and finals of the 25m Pistol Women event are scheduled for the next day, along with the 10m Air Rifle Men’s qualification and finals and the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women’s elimination round.
