Indian shooters Divya T.S. and Gajanan Khandagale impressed at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Granada, Spain. Divya secured a commendable fourth place in the women’s 25m pistol event, while Gajanan achieved a fighting fifth position in the men’s 10m air rifle on their India and World Cup debut. Rhythm Sangwan also performed well, finishing seventh in the women’s 25m pistol category.
China’s Xiao Jiaruixuan clinched the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol event after a close competition with her compatriot Kong Jieru. Despite a strong performance, Divya narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing behind Paris Olympics bronze medalist Camille Jedrzejewski.
In the qualifying rounds, Rhythm stood out with a fifth-place finish, shooting 586, while Divya secured the seventh spot with a score of 585. Gajanan impressed with a brilliant debut, qualifying in second place with a score of 634.3, closely behind Paris silver medalist Victor Lindgren.
The Indian shooters navigated the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) elimination rounds successfully. Anjum Moudgil led the pack with a score of 592, followed by Ayushi Podder with 587 and Surabhi Bharadwaj Rapole with 582.
The upcoming women’s 3P final holds promise for the Indian contingent as they aim to add more medals to their tally in the ongoing ISSF World Cup.
