Indian shooters Divya T.S. and Gajanan Khandagale impressed at the ongoing ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol event in Spain. Divya secured a commendable fourth place in the women’s 25m pistol event, narrowly missing out on a medal. On the other hand, Gajanan showcased his skills with a fifth-place finish in the men’s 10m air rifle category on his India and World Cup debut.
China’s Xiao Jiaruixuan clinched gold in the women’s 25m pistol event after a close competition that required shoot-offs to determine the winner. Divya was edged out for the bronze by Paris Olympics bronze medalist Camille Jedrzejewski. Rhythm Sangwan also put up a strong performance, finishing seventh in the women’s 25m pistol event.
In the qualifying rounds, Rhythm and Divya performed well, securing fifth and seventh places, respectively. Gajanan Khandagale had an impressive debut, qualifying in second place with a score of 634.3, narrowly behind Paris silver medalist Victor Lindgren.
The Indian shooters navigated the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions elimination rounds successfully. Anjum Moudgil led the pack with a score of 592, followed by Ayushi Podder with 587 and Surabhi Bharadwaj Rapole with 582. The focus now shifts to the women’s 3P final, where Indian shooters aim to add more medals to their tally.
