India’s Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Mallick, met with Japanese MP Koichi Hagiuda to enhance the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries. The discussions included plans for parliamentary exchanges to further strengthen the relationship. India and Japan have progressively elevated their relations to a ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership,’ emphasizing defense and security cooperation as a key aspect of their bilateral ties.
Last month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi during the G7 Foreign Ministers Meeting in France. The meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between the two nations on various fronts, including defense technology and economic security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Japanese counterpart Sanae Takaichi on her electoral victory, expressing optimism for the continued growth of the India-Japan friendship under her leadership.
