India’s mixed team trap pairings at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Shotgun in Tangier, Morocco, failed to secure a medal. India 1, with Prithviraj Tondaiman and Kirti Gupta, finished 18th out of 33 teams, shooting a total of 134. Meanwhile, India 2, represented by Kynan Chenai and Rajeshwari Kumari, ended 25th with a tally of 130.
The competition saw over 270 athletes from 43 countries vying for gold medals in Olympic shotgun events. Despite notable Indian athletes like Maheshwari Chauhan, Kynan Chenai, and Prithviraj Tondaiman, the Indian squad concluded without success. Last year, the Indian shotgun team competed internationally as a full team at the Athens world championships, where Zoravar Singh Sandhu won bronze in men’s trap.
Olympian Maheshwari Chauhan showed promise at the Tangier Shooting Club, aiming for a spot in the women’s skeet final. However, Indian trap shooters Kynan Chenai and Aashima Ahlawat narrowly missed the finals. The winners in Morocco will secure qualification spots for the ISSF World Cup Final in Rome in December. Next, the focus shifts to the Rifle/Pistol World Cup leg in Granada, Spain, scheduled from April 5-13, 2026.
